Blackberry + vanilla chia jam {Vegan, Raw, Paleo, Sugar free}

Serves: Makes 1 small jar
  • 1 + ½ cups blackberries
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 + ½ tsp chia seeds
  1. Rinse and dry the berries and place them in a pot.
  2. Add in the maple syrup or honey as well as the vanilla.
  3. Bring to a gently boil and reduce the heat.
  4. Allow the berries to gently boil for 5-7 minutes by which time the berries should be slightly dissolved.
  5. Add in the chia seeds and continue to heat for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Taste and add more sweetener if desired.
  7. Mash the berries with a potato to masher or a fork if you desire a smoother jam.
  8. The jam should have a slightly thick consistency that should coat the back of the spoon.
  9. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes during which time it will thicken up.
