Snickers is a popular candy bar across the world thanks to its delicious combination of delicious nougat with caramel and chocolate.
However, it isn’t a candy bar that can be enjoyed by those with certain dietary restrictions, such as those who follow a paleo diet or vegans.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to enjoy a tasty and creamy Snickers bar no matter what restrictions you have in terms of diet?
Well, now you can thanks to our paleo and vegan-friendly Snickers bar recipe!

Before we get into the main recipe, let’s first go through the ingredients that you will need when it comes to making a paleo and vegan-friendly Snickers bar.
There are three different sections that your ingredients need to be divided into, as there are three separate sections of the candy bar (Also Check Out How To Make Vegan Almond Bounty Bars) that you will be working on.
These sections are the nougat filling, the caramel filling, and the chocolate coating.
Let’s go through each part so that you know exactly what you will need for the different sections.
The Nougat Filling
- Almond Butter: A quarter of a cup.
- Almond Flour: One and a half cups.
- Salt: An eighth of a teaspoon.
- Dates: A quarter of a cup.
- Water: One tablespoon (if necessary)
The Caramel Filling
- Vanilla: One teaspoon
- Dry Roasted Cashews: Half a cup
- Cashew Butter: A quarter of a cup
- Dates: One cup
- Warm Water: Two tablespoons
- Salt: One-eighth of a teaspoon of salt
The Chocolate Coating
- Coconut Oil: One tablespoon
- Dairy Free Chocolate Chips: One and a half cups, melted
Paleo- Friendly Nougat
The combination of dates with almond butter and almond flour should create a dough that has just the right amount of sweetness whilst not being too overpowering. The dough won’t be too sticky, either.
This caramel features a base of dates, making for a sweet and rich taste that, much like the nougat, isn’t too overpowering.
Cashews are pretty close to peanuts in terms of flavor as well as texture, so they make for a good substitute. You can opt for roasted, salted, or raw cashews, whichever you would prefer.
The choice of dairy-free chocolate is yours to make, but make sure that it is definitely dairy free so that the candy bar is able to be both paleo and vegan friendly.
- Grab yourself a 9 by 5 loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
- Create your nougat by putting the dates, almond butter, salt, and almond flour in a food processor.
- Mix them in the processor until the mixture becomes soft and dough-like. A good way to test if the mixture is ready is to pick up a piece of it and hold it between your fingers. If it holds together when you squeeze it, then you are all set! If not, add in a bit of water and stir it up again.
- Once the dough is ready, press it into the bottom of the parchment-lined loaf pan.
- The pan can now go into the fridge whilst you begin making the caramel.
- Get your food processor- don’t worry about cleaning it- and add the water, the cashew butter, the salt, the vanilla, and the dates.
- Blend up the ingredients until it combines to form a creamy consistency.
- Grab the pan with the nougat layer from the fridge and pour the caramel mixture over the top of the nougat.
- Place the cashews evenly over the top and then put the pan back into the fridge for at least another hour.
- After an hour or so- or once the candy is fully chilled- take the mixture out of the fridge and then out of the pan by pulling on the edges of the parchment paper. Be careful not to drop the mixture during this step, as it can be a little tricky to remove them from the pan!
- Keep hold of the parchment paper, as you will need it later.
- Begin to cut up the candy mixture into one-inch bars. You should be able to make about eight bars from the amount of candy mixture that you made.
- Now it’s time to make that delicious, vegan, and paleo-free chocolate coat! To do this, place the coconut oil and the dairy-free chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave them together.
- Microwave the chocolate and coconut oil in thirty-second increments, making sure to stir the mixture each time.
- Keep microwaving and stirring the mix until it has completely melted, which should take between one and two minutes.
- Once the chocolate and coconut oil is melted entirely, dip the bars into the melted chocolate. Make sure that you cover the entire bar!
- Get your previously used parchment paper and place the chocolate-covered bars onto it.
- Place the bars back in the fridge to chill, and voilà! You have your vegan and paleo-friendly Snickers bars ready to go!
- You can store your Snickers bars in either the freezer or the fridge, depending on when you want to eat them.
